As an alternative to Silverfeed, an anti-spam email online application, temporary email addresses work even better if you really don't want the hassle of creating accounts and specially don't want to be slowed down by the sign-up process or spammed for eternity. Having a readily available email address when you need one, without the need to register and or signing up, is almost too good to be true. So how is this possible? Enter Mailinator.

How do I create an account at Mailinator?
It's simple, you just send email to it. Temporary accounts are created when email arrives for them. First, you give out the mailinator email address you created, and then you check it. It's that simple. As an example, say you are in a website that gives a free book that you want to check out, but really are not sure if you want to opt-in. On the form, just fill it up with ????@mailinator.com, ??? being anything you want, and you are ready to go.

What email address should I use?
As I mentioned above, anything you want! You can be bigdaddy@mailinator.com, terminator@mailinator.com, etc. Just make sure your "anything" is followed by @mailinator.com.

What can I do with the email address?
Give it out. Use it in webforms. Post it on forums. Use it any time you need an email address. I am sure that there are also other things you can think of:)

Then what? How do I check the email?
You have several options: check the mailbox here on this site, via RSS, via a widget!, via your web browser. Here is a screenshot of a widget:

Did you like it? Please note that all the addresses on Mailinator are accessible by anyone who just happens to think of the same address as you do. Therefore, I do not recommend for you to use this for sites that you are expecting a password or any other confidential information. Ideal use for Mailinator temporary email service is when you want to receive a free eBook from an untrusted site and one that you believe you will never need again.
