According to some information I was able to gather, Akismet's technology has been "deleting" some comments which are supposedly marked as SPAM. This practice if proven, eliminates completely any comment and thus, does not even show in your SPAM folder. Obviously this is not good as it is known that there are users that have been abusing this method to deliberately mark "some" people as Spammers and if they are automatically deleted from your folder, there is no chance of even sending an alert to the person in question.
Anyway and subject to confirmation, GASP is a valid alternative to Akismet and the sphere has been giving it a "thums up" making it reliable. Andy would not develop anything that is not reliable anyway so that's that.
Installing GASP on WordPress is very easy. Just head over to your dashboard, add new plugin, type in the search term "growmap" and hit the install button. Alternatively you can download it in the WordPress repository.
